It’s a double top for television talent at the Sands Venue on Central Promenade this weekend.

Holly Quin-Ankrah (best known for her role as reformed sex worker Cheryl Gray, who broke the heart of taxi driver Lloyd Mullaney, in Coronation Street) will be appearing on tonight’s Soul and Motown Night along with versatile singer Matt Ford.

Accompanied by the resident seven-piece soul band led by Neil Shatliff they will be performing classic hits from Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Lionel Ritchie, Wilson Pickett, The Blues Brothers and many more.

While Holly has been busy with her acting career in both Coronation Street and Grange Hill, where she played Karen Young for five years, she has always been in great demand as a vocalist either as a soloist or in collaborations with artists such as Rick Astley and Russell Watson. She slips from one genre to another with an ease and sexy style that has seen major recording companies hot on her trail.

Natalie Anderson (Emmerdale’s Alicia) will be making a special appearance on the Swing Spectacular on Saturday again along with Matt Ford and the Sands venue resident band. They will be performing classic hits from Barbara Streisand, Michael Bublé, Ella Fitzgerald, Matt Monro and many more.

Natalie first appeared on TV as Nurse Stella Davenport in The Royal between 2005 and 2008, playing a lead role and having several storylines based around her character. Previously, she had taken guest roles in Wire In the Blood, Holby City and Dalziel and Pascoe. She made the Top 50 in the original series of Pop Idol in 2001, but narrowly missed out on a place in the live finals after finishing third in her group. She recently played the role of Ewa in British film Freight and Nessarose in the West End production of Wicked.

Matt Ford is widely regarded as one of the finest big band singers in the UK, singing and broadcasts regularly with the BBC Big Band and John Wilson Orchestra.

Matt has built an enviable wealth of experience, performing with the Halle, Philharmonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony, BBC and RTE Concert Orchestras. Tickets for each evening are £29.99, which includes a three-course meal served before the show. Bookings on (01253) 625262 and www.the-sands-blackpool.co.uk
