Blackpool’s King of Disco, Lionel Vinyl, has teamed up again with the first manager to bring him to town.
Fifteen years ago Dave Robertson was running the much missed Yates’s in Talbot Square when he introduced Lionel on a Monday night – which soon became a huge success.
These days Lionel is mostly working away on celebrity weddings and corporate work and recently he has been seen on television entertaining at the Power Snooker event and in OK magazine for performing at Alex Gerrard’s (wife of footballer Steve Gerrard) baby shower.
He has also been sharing the stage with Vernon Kaye and Alexandra Burke for British Airways.
“It’s exciting to have Lionel back for our locals on a Thursday,” says Dave Robertson who for some time has run the Litten Tree on Queen Street. “When he helped us re-launch in November we discussed the possibility of his return as I knew he wanted to spend more time midweek in Blackpool with his work, helping school kids.
“I am delighted it’s finally come off, and I’m looking forward to more success with the main man.”
Lionel will now be at the Litten Tree every Thursday night with his Decades Party featuring the best music from all the decades including Motown, Disco, 80’s, 90’s and present day.
Lionel says: “It is sensational to back working with Dave after all this time. He has a fantastic team and customers at the Litten Tree, so I am really going to enjoy my Thursdays with them. The venue has a warm feeling to it and I am looking forward to catching up with everyone.”
