Charlie Landsborough - Marine Hall, Fleetwood
Despite atrocious weather a good attendance of Charlie Landsborough fans turned out for the talented country and folk singer/songwriter’s Fleetwood concert.
Performing mainly well known numbers from some of his 22 albums he also included some well received songs from his latest release.
While it was his sincere and at times tear jerking ballads that were favourites with the audience, he could change the mood and turn them into foot stomping and clapping with his more rock and roll and upbeat country numbers.
He accompanies his distinctive singing voice with lovely guitar playing and his backing group, particularly guitarist John Pettifer, founder member of the legendary group Cheap Seats, are first class musicians who have worked with some of the top country artists before joining him.
Charlie spent 15 years as a teacher and this is obvious with some of his funny stories about pupils.
He actually slots quite a lot of comedy into his act and raises plenty of laughs with his simple and clean jokes.
His talent is best summed up in his song The Storyteller and his heartfelt and at times inspirational numbers were brought to a close with My Forever Friend and Shine Your Light On Me. No doubt Charlie’s fans will be doing that for many years to come.
