Lord Alan Sugar may not have had faith in Fylde coast solicitor Lauren Riley’s potential as a business partner but today she revealed how she plans to prove him wrong.
Last night, viewers watched as Lauren, 28, heard the two words no candidate on The Apprentice wants to hear: “You’re fired.”
The former Hodgson High School pupil told The Gazette of her disappointment at being the latest hopeful to leave the current series of the hit BBC show – but said she hasn’t let the experience knock her confidence.
After Lauren’s team lost the latest challenge – designing and marketing a new soft drink – she found her contribution under scrutiny in the boardroom.
She told The Gazette: “It’s obviously disappointing but it was a great experience.
“There’s a lot of things I did contribute that haven’t been shown. It’s difficult to watch it back.
“They showed a little bit (during the pitch) where I stumbled a little but I did get praise from members of the panel.
“I just want to thank the Fylde coast for their support – it was really touching to have so much support from back home.
“I live in London now but I’m still a very proud northerner.”
She also poured cold water on national media reports that she had a fling with rival contestant James Hill during the filming of the series.
She added: “I have read the rumours and saw James’ claim but it just wasn’t the case. I was there because I was serious about my business idea.”
Despite losing out on £250,000 from Lord Sugar to invest in that idea – a mobile app to help law firms communicate with their clients – Lauren said she has since decided to go it alone.
“I have pushed ahead with it anyway,” she added. “It will be in the App Store by the end of the month.”
