Excitement is building as a galaxy of Hollywood stars move into Blackpool this week.
As reported in Friday’s Gazette, director Tim Burton is at the helm of new movie Peregrine’s Home For Peculiars.
The film stars Samuel L Jackson (pictured), Dame Judi Dench, Eva Green, Chris O’Dowd, Terence Stamp and Rupert Everett among others, although it has not been confirmed who will be in the resort.
While more than 200 cast and crew will be in town, production company 20th Century Fox is playing its cards close to its chest and have not revealed how Blackpool will appear on screen.
In a statement, the firm said: “We are delighted to announce that Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is filming in Blackpool for two weeks from Friday.
“Blackpool Tower and the Arena have starring roles in the film and the production feels very privileged to be given permission to film there.
“The production would like to thank the town of Blackpool for their understanding in advance of any inconvenience we may cause.
“We look forward to sharing the film with the people of Blackpool in early 2016.”
The Prom is being closed to traffic and pedestrians between Talbot Road at North Pier to Coral Island, with buses and taxis being diverted to St John’s Square between Tuesday, May 5 and the early hours of Saturday, May 9.
Police, fire and ambulance crews will still have access to the Promenade, a letter to businesses from location managers for Fox UK Productions states.
The tram tracks will be closed between Manchester Square and North Pier between 6am and 3pm from Wednesday to Friday, May 6 to 8.
