Zombie dancers from Phil Winston’s Theatreworks on Church Street filled Blackpool Grand Theatre auditorium at an exclusive Darren Shan book signing event for his new horror series ZOM-B.
The Grand’s auditorium was crawling with the living dead at a book signing event organised by Elaine Silverwood from Silverdell Book Store in Kirkham.
School children and horror fans were scared silly as Theatreworks students invaded the auditorium and performed a zombified dance routine on stage.
The routine was followed by Darren Shan reading a spooky excerpt from the terrifying first book of the new series.
Audience members then got the opportunity to walk on stage to get their copy of ZOM-B signed and personalised by Darren Shan – but they had to dodge the wandering zombies to get to him.
Darren Shan is a popular children’s author and in January 2000 published his first book, Cirque du Freak, from the series The Saga of Darren Shan. The series attracted rave reviews and an ever-growing army of fans hungry to learn more about vampires, which were quite unlike any that anyone had ever seen before. For the several years that followed, Shan focused almost exclusively on books for younger readers, in which time he wrote a total of 12 books about vampires. He quickly followed up his vampiric saga with The Demonata, a series about demons. Running to 10 books in total, The Demonata cemented Darren Shan’s place as ‘the master of children’s horror’, and saw him attain his first UK number one bestseller. The newest of Shan’s scary series for teenagers focuses on zombies. There are 12 books in total in the thrilling new series..
