LEGENDS, one of the longest running shows in Blackpool, is gearing up for its debut at a new home.
After more than a decade at Central Pier, the show - which is about to embark on its 15th season in the resort - opens its doors at the Sands Venue on the promenade with three special Easter shows.
Legends - created by producer/director Trevor Chance 23 years ago and which made its Blackpool debut at North Pier Theatre in 1999 - begins its summer season on June 13 and runs through to November.
But it is opening for three nights at Easter, from March 29-31.
The Easter shows will feature tributes to Elton John, Robbie Williams, Elvis Presley and Freddie Mercury along with comedian Tom Bright, guest vocalist Leanne Fury, and the Legends’ band and dancers.
“It’s always difficult when you move your home but we are only a stone’s throw away from our old venue,” said Trevor.
“We think the merging of a fabulous venue and the award winning Legends show signals a new beginning for Blackpool’s entertainment scene.
“After 14 successful years in the resort we are joining forces in order to give our fans a very special kind of experience.
“Not only will the audiences get the usual Legends surprises when they purchase tickets for show only, but they will be able to dine before, during or after the show should they want to as well.”
With most venues in Blackpool facing a constant battle to get customers through their doors, Trevor believes it is important the main entertainment producers in town work together for the good of the whole resort and support each other.
“One or two of us decided that a regular get together in the Sands would help us all to discuss and promote our various projects together,” he explained.
“We have had massive local support for our show and it’s move to the new venue and the likes of Joey Blower, Tony Jo and Viva’s Martin Heywood will all be helping us celebrate our launch this Easter. Supporting each other in supporting Blackpool is definitely the way forward and with more and more people staying at home due to rising costs of foreign holidays, hopefully we can encourage them to come to Blackpool for a break instead.”
For the first time in Legends history, tickets are already on sale to cope with the demand. To book, or for further details, call 01253 625262.
