Lucky children had their wishes granted as their grandparents hired a magical Cinderella coach to deliver them to the Christmas pantomime.
Gail and Bob Smith, of Harrowside, South Shore, take all their family, including grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, to Blackpool Grand Theatre’s pantomime each year as a festive treat.
The group always don fancy dress to mark the occasion – and ensure not an ‘ugly sister’ in sight.
And when they saw this year’s show was Cinderella they called upon their own fairy Godmother to deliver a carriage to transport the youngsters.
Mrs Smith, 60, said the treat was kept a surprise from the younger members of the family who couldn’t believe their luck when the horses pulled up the driveway.
She said: “The children were over the moon. Their faces when it arrived were amazing. I hope they’ll remember this for the rest of their lives, they said they couldn’t have asked for anything better.”
The 12 children, dressed as princesses and a King, enjoyed a half hour carriage ride to the theatre on Saturday afternoon.
A crowd of their parents and grandparents also joined the youngsters, aged from six months to eight years old, for the show.
Mr Smith, 72, said: “We thought we will get the two carriages to make it a Christmas treat.
“It was beautiful, the horses were all done up and the drivers had top hats on too.”
