THE Opera House has something to make a song and dance about.
Following the successful run of Starlight Express at The Opera House in October and November, Bill Kenwright is bringing four major productions to Blackpool in 2013.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Blood Brothers, Save The Last Dance For Me and Soul Sister will each be at the theatre for a week in the summer and autumn, adding to the venue’s already impressive list of one night concerts and events.
“This is fantastic news for the Opera House and the Town,” said Winter Gardens general manager Kathy Smith.
“We’ve begun the year with a series of sell out concerts, and annual events such as the Pigeon Weekend, Brass Band Championships and Hair and Beauty North West are bringing thousands of people into the venue and Blackpool, and the line-up for the main season is very exciting.
“These productions come with the full touring cast and support from Bill Kenwright’s team. It will be the same show you’ll see in Manchester or Liverpool but here in Blackpool.”
Save the Last Dance For Me comes from the team behind the hugely successful Dreamboats and Petticoats and harks back through to music and magic of the early 1960’s.
Featuring hits including A Teenager in Love and Sweets For My Sweet, it is a nostalgic, feel-good journey back to music’s golden era.
Save The Last Dance For Me is at The Opera House from Monday July 15 to Saturday July 20.
Direct from its smash hit West End season Soul Sister is the new musical inspired by the life and times of Ike and Tina Turner.
The story follows the highs, lows, passions and heartbreak of Ike and Tina as their careers soared while their marriage crumbled, ultimately leading to Tina being catapulted to super stardom and heralded as one of the greatest solo artists of all time.
Full of heart and soul, electrifying choreography, and stunning musical numbers, Soul Sister has earned rave reviews nationally and is on in Blackpool from Monday July 29 to Saturday August 3.
Joseph needs little introduction, remaining one of the most popular shows of all time.
Having enjoyed sensational reviews, Bill Kenwright’s superb and wonderful production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sparkling family musical continues to enjoy huge success across the country.
Retelling the biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colours, is a magical musical that has stood the test of time and features much-loved songs like Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door To Me.
Joseph is at The Opera House from Tuesday October 1 to Saturday October 5.
Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.
With a superb score, few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-award winning Blood Brothers.
Bill Kenwright’s production recently surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone.
Dates for Blood Brothers at The Opera House are Monday October 21 to Saturday October 26.
