AS if studying for GCSE exams isn’t enough, try composing pieces of music for a prestigious theatre company at the same time.
That’s exactly what Thomas Waite is doing after members of the Dukes Youth Theatre approached him when they heard excerpts of his compositions online.
They had already been impressed by the 16-year-old when he worked as a sound technician in their last production and wanted to offer him the chance to make it in the industry.
Now the Year 11 student, of Cleveland Road, Lytham, is composing background music for a production of We Lost Elijah, about a boy who goes missing.
He said: “They said they liked what they’d heard and wanted similar. It makes me really confident that people like it.
“It’s quite modern music, piano and orchestral over a beat and I play guitar on some of the songs too.”
His headteacher at Lytham St Annes Technology College, Philip Wood, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for him.”
