The boy who never grew up is being brought to life for North Pier’s Easter panto.

Emmerdale star Kurtis Stacey is promising his Peter Pan will be the real deal as he takes on the title role of the classic fairytale, even ‘flying’ during the pantomime.

Trio Entertainment is bringing its touring, “swashbuckling” version of the JM Barrie story to Blackpool, with an all-star line-up including TV stars and a local lass.

Mr Stacey said: “I’m really excited to do this show.

“It’s a traditional panto, full of laughs, plenty of songs and audience participation and I’ll be flying too, the children will love it.”

He joined his cast mates, Britain’s Got Talent favourite Steven Hall, Blackpool stalwart panto performer Chris Martin, and Bispham teen Bethany McMillan, for a photo call on Blackpool’s Promenade and the North Pier, saying he felt at home in his bright costume.

Mr Stacey, from Liverpool, said: “We fit right in even in our costumes.

“No-one does a double take at you in Blackpool.”

Ms McMillan is set to join him ‘flying’ too, as well as learning some acrobatics for her role as Tinkerbell.

The 16-year-old former Millfield Science and Performing Arts College pupil played Belle in Beauty and the Beast at North Pier last year.

She said: “I love playing in Blackpool and especially in this theatre.

“Blackpool’s a great place now for families and this show is perfect for families too.”

Mr Hall, who will play one of the pirates, added: “It’s such an iconic place to perform.”

Mr Martin, who plays Smee in the production, also returns to the venue, taking on his fifth Blackpool panto.

He said: “I love it here. The shows just get bigger and better and so do the audiences.

“They can expect something different from me this year, I played Prince Charming in the past but I’ll be the joker this year.”

They will also be joined on stage by X Factor contestant Chris Maloney, as the ‘mad, bad’ Captain Hook.

Peter Pan flies into North Pier theatre for the Easter holidays, April 3-11, daily at 2pm and 7pm.

Tickets are £10.50 each, with family ticket offers, available from the box office on (01253) 623304 or www.blackpoolnorthpier.co.uk.
