A literary classic will take to the Opera House stage next Christmas.
Producer Peter Frosdick, who’s behind this year’s festive production of A Christmas Carol which opens tonight, will stage a new telling of another Charles Dickens tale - Great Expectations, from December 10 2016 to January 7 2017.
Winter Gardens managing director Michael Williams said: “We always aim to make announcements for new shows as early as possible and as we are working with Peter on A Christmas Carol it makes absolute sense to get the news out about Great Expectations.
“It is a wonderful story and I have no doubt audiences will be mesmerised when the show comes to life on the Opera House stage.”
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Monday, with a 25per cent discount on top price tickets bought by December 31, and 15per cent by March 31.
With the opening scenes on Christmas Eve, Great Expectations begins with escaped convict Magwitch being pursued by soldiers.
As Young Pip appears through the mist he encounters the gross Magwitch, launching a tangled tale of the young man, beautiful Estelle, jilted Miss Havisham and of course, the convict.
Mr Frosdick said: “This will be an absolutely magnificent production of Great Expectations and one I am confident will wow audiences. It is an absolute pleasure to be bringing this classic to Blackpool.”
