A British ventriloquist currently wowing TV audiences in America is coming to Blackpool.
Paul Zerdin is a familiar face to variety fans in the UK, with his sidekicks Sam, Albert and Baby.
But in recent weeks, he’s been seen on America’s Got Talent, where he secured the ‘golden buzzer’ vote from judge actor and comedian Marlon Wayans – winning praise for his risqué humour and innuendo.
Last night he performed in the live rounds at the legendary theatre Rock City Music Hall in New York City, for a chance to appear in the show’s final.
Although a familiar face in the UK, with three Royal Variety Performance appearances – including the show’s visit to Blackpool in 2009 – and various tours to his name, Paul has taken his chance in AGT in a bid to break into the American market.
On Wednesday, October 28, he’ll be back in Blackpool for a full show at Viva, in association with the Church Street cabaret venue’s Comedy Station Comedy Club.
Viva director Leye D Johns said: “Paul has appeared on the biggest worldwide stage these past few months absolutely blowing the judges away with his talent and infectious personality on NBC’s America’s Got Talent.
“So it will be an extra special return to Blackpool for Paul, Sam, Albert and Baby, and we’re so pleased to announce this one-off exclusive date here at Viva this October. Do not miss this show and the incredible talent that is Mr Paul Zerdin.”
It’s 10 years since he played back-to-back summer seasons at the Paradise Room at the Pleasure Beach, but he’d been a regular in the resort for many years prior, at the amusement park and elsewhere – topping the bill with his mix of comedy and ventriloquism, on the back of his 1996 win of The Big Big Talent Show, hosted by Jonathan Ross.
Tickets priced at £17.50 and junior tickets (12-16) £8.50 are available to book online via www.vivablackpool.com.
