THE sun was shining and the skies were blue providing a perfect combination for the Lytham St Annes Guardian Concert Band (pictured above) to perform in Stanley Park Bandstand last Sunday.

Playing for two hours the band covered well known classics such as Nights In White Satin and Everything I Do (I Do It For You), music from films like Pirates of the Caribbean and popular music from Abba, through to a bespoke Olympics piece arranged by the band’s musical director Paul Cooper.

During the afternoon the band was introduced to Dave Burns who carried the Olympic Torch through Cleveleys in June.

Dave has spent many years raising money for charity and was given the honour of being one of the local torch bearers.

The band was delighted to have the opportunity to have their picture taken with him and his Olympic Torch.

For more information about the band contact or call/text (07854) 438358.

The band’s next performance will be on Sunday August 12 at 2pm at St Annes Bandstand in St Annes.
