The last of the summer tunes

Have your say

THE last of this year’s Fylde Arts Junior Midday Recitals is on Friday at the Lytham Assembly Rooms and features another selection of young talented musicians.

Valeriya Muliar (violin) is Ukrainian by birth and now a pupil at Lytham St Annes High School.

On this occasion she will play a movement from Concerto in A minor by Vivaldi and Melodie by Skoryk. Her accompanist is her teacher Elizabeth Cooper.

Pianist Jonathan Davies has studied with John Gibson and has achieved high grades in both piano and clarinet.

He has performed several times in past junior recital series.

Timothy Edmundson (bass-baritone) is a pupil at King Edward/Queen Mary School and has studied singing with Ian Gray at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music. His programme includes an aria from Bach, and songs by Wolf (Verborgenheit), Michael Head (Money O!), and Howells (Einsamleid). He is accompanied by his school’s head of music John Pennington.

The recital concludes with solos by another violinist, Jack Weiss, aged 13, who also studies at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music and is also a member of the National Youth Orchestra. Accompanied by John Gibson he will play the First Movement of Violin Concerto in G major by Tessarini and John Williams’ famous theme from the film Schindler’s List.

The recital begins at 2pm and admission is free. There is a voluntary collection to help pay for the venue.
