Elvis impersonators, two gala days and a motorbike show – the Fylde coast is set for a bumper weekend of entertainment.
Starting tomorrow, music lovers will descend on the resort as part of a three-day festival at the Winter Gardens to celebrate Elvis Presley.
The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest, now in its second year, starts at 10am on Friday, with the winner going on to represent Europe in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest finals later this year.
A spokesman for Tees Events Ltd, the company hosting the event, said: “Our specials guests and judges include Suzi Quatro the Queen of Rock and Cynthia Pepper an American actress who co- starred with Elvis in the movie Kiss in Cousins.
“Sam Thompson a body guard of Elvis and close friend and Charles Stone, Elvis Presley’s tour producer, will also be appearing.”
Opening heats for the event start tomorrow, followed by the semi-finals on Saturday and Grand Final on Sunday.
The winner of the event will then travel to Memphis – the legendary home of the singer – in August to compete against other impersonators from across the world.
Elsewhere in Fylde, two villages will celebrate gala days.
Wrea Green Field Day is on Saturday from 11am, featuring a procession and fairground rides, with Hambleton Gala Day starting at noon.
Chairman of the Wrea Green Field Day, Hayley Stafford said: “We are hoping for another fun packed family day starting with the crowning of the Rose Queen Holly Wensley.
“We want people to take a look around the green and get involved with Blackpool Circus School, drop by at the farmers market for some tasty treats and visit the local stalls.”
The event will also celebrate the 90th anniversary of the crowning of the Rose Queen, a tradition first started in 1924.
The same afternoon Hambleton Gala Day takes place, followed by a prize giving ceremony and crowning of the Rose Queen at 1pm in Bob Williamson Park.
On Sunday, the fun moves to Stanley Park, as dozens of bikers take part in a show.
The Motorcyle Show and Monster Squad will be at the Blackpool park from 11am to 5pm, featuring dozens of bikers showing off their prized racing machines.
