A superstar DJ and a room with a spectacular view will combine to throw a unique Blackpool party high in the sky.
In a first for the resort’s 119-year-old iconic Tower, Radio 1’s Danny Howard will perform at the top of the attraction on August 8 to launch the Skywalk Sunset Sessions.
The night includes dancers, magicians and musical talent, and is a homecoming for the globetrotting DJ, who co-runs the club night Randy Ron.
Danny said: “As far as I’m aware no DJ has ever performed at the top of the Tower and no music event has ever taken place there, so to be involved in the very first one is an honour because I’m very proud of where I come from.
“Although I’m going round the world now I love coming home and to do something this special is a great feeling.”
The host of Radio 1’s Dance Anthems hopes the event is a catalyst for more eye catching events in Blackpool over the coming months.
He added: “I’ve always wanted to come back to Blackpool to see entertainment, new events and venues open and busy, and people looking forward to them.
“Blackpool is an entertainment town and it’s sad to see it when there’s not much going on, so something like this is brilliant because it keeps Blackpool going.”
Kenny Mew, head of operations at the Blackpool Tower Eye, said: “The Blackpool Tower Eye and Skywalk are an incredible and versatile events space and the Skywalk Sunset Sessions is the perfect opportunity to showcase what we can deliver 380ft above the ground at the top of the world famous Blackpool Tower.
Skywalk Sunset Sessions will run every Saturday night in August.
