The manager of Lytham’s Lowther Pavilion is appealing for memories of wartime evacuation.

Leave Hitler To Me Lad by Duck Egg Theatre Company is coming to Lowther Pavilion on Thursday, June 18 and manager Roger McCann is eager to hear of people’s evacuation experiences.

“I’m sure there must be people in the area who experienced evacuation and I’d love to hear their stories,” said Roger.

“Maybe you were evacuated yourself and then settled here. Perhaps you had an evacuee billeted with your family.

“For children today the Second World War is history and history tends to concentrate on the battles. This show really brings home the impact on ordinary people and I’d like to reinforce that by sharing some real life stories of people in our area.”

Based on a true story, the musical play is set in a children’s home in 1952 where one young evacuee is still waiting to be taken home.
