‘Make yourselves comfortable’ – that’s the message to people set to enjoy the Illuminations Switch-On Festival Weekend.
Visitors to the Saturday and Sunday shows will be allowed to bring their own chairs and blankets to help them enjoy the nights’ entertainment.
Organisers say they have had a ‘flurry’ of requests.
Chairs are not permitted for the Friday night Switch-On, starring Peter Kay, Little Mix, Texas and other top acts.
Saturday night’s Switch-On entertainment comes straight from the West End, headlined by the cast of Thriller Live, as well as Dirty Dancing – The Classic Show on Stage, Chicago, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert and Jon Lee from S Club 7 fame and friends with songs from The Jersey Boys.
The pop party on Sunday night is headlined by X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson with top 90s acts Atomic Kitten, Liberty X, 911 and Damage.
Coun Graham Cain, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for leisure and tourism, said: “We’ve got an amazing line-up for the Saturday and Sunday concerts with some of the West End’s most exciting musicals on the Saturday and Rebecca Ferguson and a host of other stars on Sunday.
“We’ve also got the Switch-On Food and Drink Festival which is set to be brilliant.
“We’re expecting that people will have a fantastic day and, understandably, might want to relax and take the weight off their feet.
“So this year we’ve opened up the arena to chairs, meaning people can bring a deckchair, a folding chair or maybe just a picnic blanket along.
“I hope this will make people feel really comfortable and make for a really relaxing and enjoyable time for everyone.”
Tickets remain for the Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On Festival Weekend with limited availability for those buying a weekend ticket to secure a free wristband for the Friday concert.
