Nellie Deans on Blackpool’s North Promenade, scooped the top pub promotion accolade at the Thwaites Awards for Excellence 2012.

The pub was presented with the award for Best Pub Promotions at an awards ceremony held at the Cottons Hotel in Knutsford, beating off tough competition from the Eagle and Child in Ramsbottom and The Kings Arms, Burton in Kendal.

It was praised by the judges for creativity and innovation, offering a variety of drinks campaigns and return on investment.

Licensee Stephen Pierre said of the honour: “I’m very proud. It’s been a challenge this last year but despite everything the business continues to go from strength to strength and being recognised by the award makes all the stress and hard work feel worthwhile. The award is recognition for the entire team’s hard work and positive can-do attitude.” Andrew Buchanan, director of pub operations at Thwaites said: “There is nowhere tougher than Blackpool to promote a bar. Stephen is continuously planning and implementing ideas to drive footfall and attract both locals and visitors to Nellie Deans.

“He has worked tirelessly to create a destination venue that ensures visitors return again and again. Stephen and the team are well deserved winners of the Thwaites Best Pub Promotions Award 2012.”

The pub was presented with an engraved glass trophy and certificate together with an all expenses paid five star, VIP trip to Ireland.
