A new season of live broadcast opera gets underway tomorrow.

La Traviata will be beamed into cinema screens across the country, including Blackpool’s Odeon complex, tomorrow from the English National Opera’s London Coliseum.

The screening of Verdi’s opera follows on from the broadcast events of ENO’s Benvenuto
Cellini last year. The production is the first revival of Peter Konwitschny’s celebrated staging of one the most popular operas of all time, described as a “musical masterpiece that combines compelling characters with moving and instantly recognisable melodies.”

Making her UK debut in the role of Violetta is young soprano Elizabeth Zharoff, joined by ENO emerging talent Ben Johnson as Alfredo, British mezzo soprano Clare Presland as Flora and British baritone Anthony Michaels-Moore as Germont.

The original performances of this production in 2013 marked Konwitschny’s UK directorial debut.

This Olivier Award-nominated work is sung in English with subtitles.
