THE Olympics will be the theme as lovers of the written word meet for a special literary event.

Blackpool based wordsmiths, the Dead Good Poets Society will be holding an open mic event at Cafe No 5, on Cedar Square this Friday.

Performance poets, writers of prose and just plain poetry lovers are invited to enjoy an evening of culture between 6pm and 9pm.

Adele Robinson, a spokeswoman for the group said: “We are really excited about this Friday’s meeting and hope we have a good turn out.

“As usual we will welcome contributions from new and existing writers and poets.

“The theme of the evening is ‘games’, in time for the Olympics but only to stimulate ideas.

“We encourage original work and if anyone writes but lacks confidence to read themselves, we will read for you.

Performing for the first time can be daunting but we are here to encourage new writing talent.“
