Wordpool, Blackpool’s festival of words, is back for a celebration of poetry on National Poetry Day.
The special event, on Thursday, October 2 at Central Library, will feature a host of talented poets as well as the announcement of Wordpool 2014’s poetry competition winner.
Since the Wordpool festival in July, poetry judge, Polly Atkin, has chosen winners from the over 100 entries, including commendations for poems that used the Blackpool lights theme well. The first prize winner will see the winning poem up in lights as part of the Illuminations.
Tickets for the event, which runs from 6pm until 8pm in Central Library and includes hot pot and a coach to see the poem in lights, are £5 and must be booked from Central Library in advance.
