If you always wanted to be DJ but never knew how to become one, then two Blackpool entrepreneurs could have the answer.
DJ, promoter and electrician Paul Campbell and producer, DJ and Arts Award Adviser Ben Marshall have teamed up to establish the North West Academy and are starting a DJ Skool (that’s their spelling!) in association with Rock Hard Studios.
Over a 12-week course they will be teaching students aged between 12 and 25 everything they need to know about the art of DJing – and a lot more besides.
Classes will include equipment set up, beat mixing, board skills, performance, looping, set structure, how to get gigs and how to record a demo CD.
“The idea is to focus on the younger generation and train up the next wave of DJs,” said Paul. “It’s a way of getting kids and others off the streets and off the unemployment line and giving them some motivation and ambition.”
Classes start on November 3 and will run for two hours on Saturdays with a new course beginning each month and running concurrently with existing students.
