The ‘summer of rain’ is behind us and the festival season is over – but Fylde coast music fans can stay warm and dry and still catch the best of Blackpool Live 2012.

The nine days of nine concerts started last night in The Arena at the Blackpool Winter Gardens, with an appearance of The Smiths Ltd – a tribute to the music of The Smiths and Morrissey.

The festival is designed to appeal to
a local audience and visitors alike with a different concert every night showcasing a variety of musical styles including the best pop and
rock tributes, jazz, blues and classic Vegas style crooning.

Blackpool Live 2012 runs through to next Friday, with each concert
starting at 7.30pm and tickets priced at £10 each per concert.

“We’ve been looking to put together an event like this for some time and it was just a case of finding a gap in the schedule.” said Winter Gardens marketing manager David Gore. “This series of concerts is designed to introduce the Winter Gardens to a new audience or encourage others to return.

“There’s a wide range of musical styles so should be something for everyone and at £10 a ticket its great value in these difficult times.

“We’ve also got an offer for anyone buying tickets to three shows they’ll only pay £20 so hopefully we’ll get visitors staying over for an extra night too and that helps everyone in the town.”

Tickets for Blackpool Live 2012 are on sale from the Winter Gardens Box office or at www.blackpoollive.com All shows start at 7.30pm.
