Blackpool teenager Nancy Petulengro (pictured left) has made it through to the area final of the nationwide Open Mic UK talent search.

The 15-year-old got through the regional final last weekend and now has a place in one of the live area finals in December which could win her a place in the January 21 grand final being held at the 02 venue in London with a recording contract and £30,000 investment up for grabs.

It’s turning out to be quite a year for Nancy who performed a duet on stage with Des O’Connor, won the UK accordion championships at London’s Jackson Lane Theatre and is taking part in Blackpool Grand Theatre’s All Hands On Deck charity show on Friday.

Nancy – who was home-schooled in accordance with Romany-Gypsy tradition – has been playing the accordion since she was just three years old, but only recently began singing.
