The world’s first musical drama based on the iconic WW1 poet Wilfred Owen visits Fleetwood next month.
Bullets and Daffodils (The Wilfred Owen Musical), sets Owen’s poetry to contemporary music, and is directed by and also stars 60s star John Gorman who found fame with Liverpool band The Scaffold and TV’s Tiswas.
The musical was written by singer/songwriter Dean Johnson, who attended the same school as Owen in Birkenhead.
The score also features a contribution from Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, who exclusively licensed the track himself.
It features recorded contributions from actor Christopher Timothy, and has had airplay on BBC Radio 2.
The production of the story, however, remains the power of Wilfred Owen’s words that have made him the greatest war poet of all time.
Bullets and Daffodils will be performed in the Vantini Room of The North Euston Hotel, Fleetwood on March 30.
