X Factor winner Sam Bailey is about to embark on her first headline tour and looking forward to coming to Blackpool in just under two weeks time.
The mum-of-three last year supported Beyonce on one of her UK dates.
And just two months after the release of her autobiography, Daring To Dream, she can’t wait to get back on the road.
The feet of the former prison officer have barely touched the ground since she was crowned the winner of the hit ITV show in 2013.
She became the first X Factor winner in three years to gain the Christmas number one spot, with her single – a cover of Demi Lovato’s Skyscraper.
Her debut album The Power Of Love was released in March last year and reached number one in the UK album chart.
It was re-issued in December, with five new tracks.
The 37-year-old, from London, said: “I am really looking forward to coming back to Blackpool.
“Blackpool is one of the places which everybody loves. But to be honest, whenever I’ve been before it’s been at times when a lot of things were shut.
“I’m hopeful a few more attractions might be open this time!
“I’ve got friends who live nearby, sort of in between Blackpool and Manchester, so I’m used to the accent now.
“I’m terrible with accents as I tend to pick them really quickly, so I go somewhere and end up speaking like everybody else.
“I do really enjoy travelling around and going to different places, meeting different people though, so I’m looking forward to the tour. I’m a people person.
“The show is just me and a fantastic band.
“And we’re going to just have fun.
“I’m a little bit old school, I just like to get up there and sing.”
And she is grateful to the show which helped give her a platform to launch her musical career. I’ve been performing since I was 15, but I never got to where I wanted to be.
“Then real life, needing to pay bills, marriage and children happened and you just put everything on hold.
“X Factor gave a woman like me a chance.
“It gave me my confidence back, it gave me music back, and this is for all those people out there who believed in me.”
Sam Bailey performs at the Opera House, Blackpool Winter Gardens, on Tuesday, February 10, 7.30pm.
