Musicians will descend on Blackpool’s Winter Gardens this weekend for the North West Regional Brass Bands Championships.
More than 2,400 members of 75 bands will take part in the event on Sunday, as bands battle it out for a place in the Great British Championships in Cheltenham and at the Royal Albert Hall in the autumn, depending on category.
The competitors come from across the North West, with three bands even travelling from the Isle Of Man, with many spending the weekend in the resort ahead of the contest.
Local performers will come from Blackpool Brass, Thornton Cleveleys, Tarleton Brass, Pilling Jubilee Silver and Poulton-le-Fylde.
Day tickets for the contest, which gets unde way in the Opera House at 9.30am, the Empress Ballroom at 10am and the Pavilion Theatre at noon, are available, costing £10 for adults and £7 for seniors and under 16s.
These allow entry to all the day’s events, throughout the Winter Gardens.
