SINGING sensation Paloma Faith is preparing to party in style in Blackpool after being confirmed as the latest act to perform at this year’s Illumination’s Switch On.

The talented songwriter, who graced the stage for the Lights in 2009, told The Gazette she is looking forward to coming back as part of the attraction’s centenary celebrations.

She said: “I’m excited. It was fun last time, it was like going to Vegas. The crowd was really warm and welcoming and had a great party spirit.

“I love everyone singing along to my songs so it’d be great if everyone could learn all the words in time.”

Paloma will be joined on stage by X-Factor winning girl-band Little Mix, Lemar, Amy MacDonald and Lawson. More stars are set to be revealed this week.

The Switch On will be held on The Tower Festival Headland for the first time and 20,000 free tickets will be allocated randomly.

Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director of Marketing Blackpool, said: “This is going to be a very exciting year for the Illuminations and once again we are delighted to be working with Real and Smooth on our biggest event of the year.

“I am very pleased Paloma Faith has now joined our line-up of acts. Paloma has a long history with Blackpool and it is always a delight to welcome her back. The Switch-On is a massive event and it is great that we can offer such a diverse mix of performers ensuring that everyone in the crowd has a fantastic night.”

Real and Smooth North West Managing Director, Michael McIntyre added: “Paloma Faith is a fantastic performer to open our week of artist announcements. She is known as a great live act and the crowds at Blackpool will love her. The Illuminations Centenary celebrations are kicking off with Real style!”

Registration for tickets closes at noon on Wednesday, August 15. Log on to www.visitblackpool.com/switchon.
