Children will have a chance to learn about keeping the beach clean with a funday at Houndshill Shopping Centre on Saturday.
The centre will team up with the LOVEmyBEACH campaign to host the free event from 10am to 4pm.
LOVEmyBEACH will put on their ‘fun and educational workshop’ which aims to teach children how to look after their beach and its environment – with free activities including seashell painting and other seaside crafts.
The LOVEmyBEACH campaign is a programme that ‘inspires communities to work together to keep local beaches clean’, and seeks out volunteers to help maintain the beach’s natural environment during weekly sessions across the Fylde coast.
A spokesman said: “The groups do a great job of caring for our beaches and removing litter.”
* A double dose of nostalgia will be served up by Blackpool-based producer Duggie Chapman at Lowther Pavilion this month.
As part of Lytham War Weekend, We’ll Meet Again (pictured) on Friday, at 7.30pm, will pay tribute to the wartime entertainers.
Later in the month, on August 27, he’ll present his new film programme Music Hall Memories featuring stars from the Forties and Fifties.
