And he has been at the Low Moor Road facility meeting the youngsters who will benefit from the huge fund-raiser.

Joe said: “This will be my first fund-raiser since the award so I wanted to make sure it was on home territory as a way of thanking the people of Blackpool and the Fylde for their support and friendship over the years.

“I want it to be a very high profile day but the emphasis will also be very much on having a fun time with friends and associates.”

The Joe Longthorne Golf Classic and Gala Charity Dinner takes place on Wednesday, August 29, at Blackpool’s De Vere Village Hotel.

A host of celebrities and entertainers have been invited to join the occasion and an outdoor radio broadcast will take place during the proceedings which are set to commence at 1.30pm with a shotgun start.

Each golf team of three will be joined by a celebrity and among those invited to attend are Roy Walker, Stan Boardman, Mick Miller, Bernie Flint and a host of sportsmen.

There will be prizes for the top three teams, the longest drive and nearest the pin.

Ladies and gentleman are welcome.

Brian House communications manager Shirley Morgan said: “The golf day and charity dinner organised by Joe Longthorne will be a really special event, and it was wonderful Joe took time out to visit Brian House this week.

“He was simply fantastic with the youngsters and spent a lot of time with us. He went on a tour of Brian House and I think he was very moved by the experience.

“I know the staff enjoyed meeting him.

“Every penny raised through Joe’s efforts will go to providing care at the hospice.

“We are very grateful to Joe and his team for their hard work.

“I’m glad they took the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes – their time was very much appreciated by us all.”

Sponsorship for each team is £345 which includes three tickets for the gala dinner. Tickets for the four-course dinner without the golf are £45 each.

Entertainment after the dinner will include the full Joe Longthorne show.
