These young choristers were pitch perfect during a singing competition.

The pupils from four Wyre primary schools - Anchorsholme Academy, Carleton Green Primary School, Norbreck Primary Academy, and Rossall School - joined together in the impressive surrounds of the latter’s school chapel.

The annual Big Sing event sees pupils perform a variety of musical numbers in a show for family and friends.

And this year’s event allowed pupils to take part in a workshop with English soprano, and former Rossall pupil, Jane Wilkinson, who helped them learn the show’s closing number. The choirs tackled songs including You Raise Me Up, The Lighthouse and One Voice before working together on Lin Marsh’s Believe.

Margaret Young, director of music at Rossall School, said: “It’s great to see so many youngsters coming together and sharing their love of singing.” The Big Sing shield was won by Norbreck Primary Academy whose rousing renditions of You Raise Me Up and Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho won over judge, Ms Wilkinson.
