Resort Beat starts this week with good news.
The Blue Room is back open and gearing up for a rather delayed but still hotly anticipated Battle of the Bands.
The contest, with a top prize of £1,000, was originally supposed to have started a month ago.
But the pub was rocked by the sad news of the death of landlord Roger Binney, forcing closure for several weeks.
It was a blow for the Blackpool live music scene to see The Blue Room shut its doors.
But the place is now back in action, Wednesday to Sunday at least, and plans are in place to give the battle of the bands another go.
Heat One is now scheduled for Wednesday, June 11, with four more Wednesday evening dates planned before a grand final on Saturday July 19.
The organisers have even been so kind as to ensure none of the events will clash with England World Cup action so you can have your fix of footy and fantastic music.
Entries are now, once again open.
So, if you’re a musician and you fancy getting your hands on the cash, head to the Blue Room’s facebook page www.facebook.com/theblueroombpl, send them a message and get involved.
If that wasn’t enough good news out of Church Street, well, listen up.
The Blue Room is also set to host the official UK launch party for Croatia’s Outlook Festival.
It is Europe’s leading bass music and sound system culture festival and there will be sets from GLOXXY, LUKE EP, GAMANJI, JACK BEE and PETER?.
Admission £2 on the door.
Or head down this weekend for a real fright night with the Vince Ripper and Rodent Show – a unique and highly entertaining 3D Rock & Roll extravaganza.
The show includes support from Kurt Dirt and DJ Sets and it all starts on Friday at 9pm.
