Little Mix are back in Blackpool – and for one member it’s going to be a trip down memory lane.
The band originally auditioned for the X Factor as solo performers.
But under the tutelage of judge and mentor Tulisa, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall joined forces to become Little Mix, going on to become the X Factor’s first-ever victorious group in 2011.
The girls’ debut single Cannonball shot to number one and, unlike some of their reality TV show competitors, their popularity is showing no signs of stopping.
They play the Opera House in Blackpool on Monday and, for Perrie, it is a bit like coming back to what you know.
“I used to come here with my nan when I was young and I just loved it – all the rides, the amusements and the donkeys on the beach, it was all magic to me,” said the 23-year-old South Shields teenager.
“I love Blackpool and I just hope we arrive in time for me to show the others around before we go on stage.
“So if anyone thinks they’ve seen Little Mix going up and down the Promenade, they’ll probably be right.”
The band has been to these parts before, performing at the Illuminations Switch On and playing the Opera House as part of their debut UK tour last year.
This second tour is the girls’ biggest yet. As well as the Opera House, they have dates at arenas in Newcastle, Birmingham and Liverpool and the O2 in London.
“The girls are playing a lot of arenas on this tour but they absolutely loved Blackpool last time they were here and insisted on coming back as part of this tour,” said a spokesman for the band.
“The Opera House is a great venue, there was a great atmosphere last time, and we’re sure their fans will again turn out in force for the next gig.”
Tickets for the Opera House gig are about as rare as a lump of gold on Blackpool beach but, if you want to try your luck, head to www.gigsandtours.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk or call the box office on 0844 811 0051 or 0844 826 2826.
