Memories of the British seaside are inspiring a gig at Bootleg Social this month.
usical duo Hugs Bison are heading out on the road to coastal resorts, picking up the iconic sights and sounds on their way - to help create a unique performance at each town.
Phil Powell and Shaun Blezard describe themselves as ‘one a technologist with a passion for music, the other a musician with a passion for technology’.
On Thursday, July 23, they’ll be ‘out and about’ in Blackpool making film and audio recordings, ahead of their gig the following night at Bootleg Social on Topping Street.
As well as collecting their own snapshots of Blackpool life, they’re asking residents to submit their own recorded memories for the show.
Shaun said: “Candy floss, penny arcades, donkey rides, fairgrounds, Punch and Judy; all part of the quintessential British summer.
“Memories of a favourite resort, family picnics, romantic walks on the prom, watching a late sunset; all fading, receding into a distant past.
“You might have some old family holiday films or made recordings of the waves crashing against the pier. You may wish to write and record a poem, or a tell us about a vivid memory. You might go to your favourite part of town and film it for us.”
