The first of this season’s Fylde Arts Buffet Talks takes place on Friday afternoon at the Lytham Assembly Rooms on Dicconson Terrace and will be given by international guitarist Neil Smith.
Neil is one of this country’s most travelled and celebrated exponents of the guitar, applauded by his audiences and peers alike.
His exploits abroad are legendary, encompassing Europe, Asia, USA and South America, and he has many humorous tales to tell having player for royalty, presidents and film stars.
On his last appearance at Lytham he spoke of his experiences in Russia where he played not only in concert halls but also on top of a tank whilst entertaining the troops of the USSR Army – which led to his arrest.
Neil’s less controversial work includes concert recitals and concerto appearances and also master classes and lectures.
He is also sought after as an examiner for advanced diplomas and degrees.
Apart from live performances and broadcasts Neil has made many recordings and has published a book – Have Guitar: Will Travel – the title of Friday’s talk.
Sadly the book is sold out but some CDs are available.
The talk begins at 2pm and will be followed by a buffet at which members of the audience will have the opportunity to meet and chat to the artist.
Ticket priced £8 can be reserved in advance by telephone (01772) 682987 to be collected on the door.
