He’s gone from fitting garage doors to the country’s best wedding entertainer.
Fleetwood’s Howard Wing has scooped the best live music entertainment award at the Wedding Industry Awards in London.
And, since receiving the accolade in London last week, dad-of-two Howard says he is “still buzzing”.
He said: “It’s been bananas and I’ve been talking about it constantly for the last week.
“The ceremony was very emotional for me because my father passed away last year and he was really proud of what I do, so I just thought of him.
“It was a great experience.”
Howard’s path to stardom began while working in his family’s business after taking inspiration at a friend’s wedding 10 years ago.
Influenced heavily by swing music and the likes of Frank Sinatra, for the last seven years he’s been plying his trade and spreading his name.
So what’s the most rewarding part of providing the soundtrack to the most important day of his clients’ lives?
He said: “I just love to create the atmosphere for the brides and grooms, knowing you’re making a difference and that if you weren’t there it wouldn’t be the same.
“I’ve really made a reputation within the wedding world and it’s just great at the moment.”
And what do his family think of the work he does?
“The children are one and three at the moment so they don’t quite get it, but the family are mega proud.
“It’s in my blood and I absolutely love it.”
Damian Bailey, founder of The Wedding Industry Awards, added: ““This was our third awards and the standard of entrants was higher than ever.”
“It’s becoming harder and harder to pick winners from such amazing shortlists where everyone demonstrates such skill.
“It was great to celebrate everyone’s achievements and then party all night.”
