Revellers will be set to swing from the chandeliers of Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom as Showzam! circus festival gets underway.

The Electric Swing Circus are the musical headliners for the Carnival Ball, which gets the week-long celebration of street performance and circus underway.

With the theme Decadence Through The Ages, the ball, on Saturday, February 13 will be hosted by in-demand cabaret star Abi Collins.

And until Christmas Day 2015, there’s a special offer of four VIP tickets for £80, saving 20 per cent off the full price.

Having played across Europe, the band, which fuses ‘saucy 1920s’ swing and stomping electro beats’ with a live set including electric double bass, vintage samples, gypsy-jazz guitar, keys, drums and synths, can’t wait to bring the party to The Tower Ballroom.

Guitarist Tom Hyland said: “It’s our first time in Blackpool and we’re really excited about The Tower Ballroom.

“Playing in beautiful spaces really makes a difference and I don’t think you can get much more special than this.

“It’s been said that electro swing is the music of the last great depression, teamed with the technology of the current one.

“It’s great music to party to while leaving the real world at the door.”

The band formed in Birmingham four years ago, and used crowd-funding to record their eponymous debut album and are now working on a follow up.

They built a live reputation of packing dancefloors wherever they go, and it is the interaction with an audience which the band loves.

“Audiences can tell if the musicians aren’t having fun or are faking it, and we love to perform, we love to party and that brings the audience along with us,” Tom added.

“For us it’s all about the party and anyone who comes to see the show will have a fantastic time.

“There’ll be plenty of dancing, a mixture of sassy swing, electronic beats and some really great tunes.

“If you like live music you will have a ball.”

Showzam! organisers LeftCoast’s artistic director Michael Trainor said The Electric Swing Circus are ‘made for The Carnival Ball’.

“Once again staged in the wonderful surroundings of the Tower Ballroom, the Carnival Ball not only boasts a stellar line-up, but the promise of being one of Blackpool’s biggest nights of the year,” he added.

“With the biggest line up to date, and the offer of 20 per cent off four VIP tickets bought before December 25 we’d advise you to buy now to avoid disappointment.”
