Success by degrees – that’s certainly the case for 53 Degrees, at Fylde Road, Preston, arguably one of the North West’s most eclectic venues.

The £6.5m building in the heart of Lancashire boasts not one but two venues, with a 1,500 capacity venue on the ground floor alone with a more intimate 400 capacity club upstairs, the perfect place to catch up and coming bands and artists.

Including tonight comedian Chris Ramsey ahead of his show at North Pier on May 25 (see tomorrow’s WOW for our interview with the fast rising comedy star).

Marketing man Mark Charlesworth says bookings are 
going from strength to strength at the UCLan hub.

There’s a rescheduled date for Stiff Little Fingers too – for Saturday May 18. On Friday May 31 Glasgow’s six-piece hardcore band Yashin bring their army of fans following the success of second studio album We Cre ated A Monster for a one-off at 53 Degrees.

Hayseed Dixie are there June 26, Stranglers founder Hugh Cornwell July 5, new talent The Strypes (right) July 7 and legendary German guitarist Michael Schenker storms in with an electrifying set on July 19.

Returning heroes include New York-based We Are Scientists on July 31.
