Scottish rockers Simple Minds have announced a 29-date tour for 2015, to follow a new album release this autumn.
The Don’t You (Forget About Me) and Alive And Kicking hitmakers will release their 16th album Big Music in November and will be on the road in the spring, coming to Blackpool’s Opera House on Friday, April 3. The Big Music tour will feature new tracks as well as greatest hits from their 30-year back catalogue, from the band – listed just last month as one of NME magazine’s 100 most influential bands.
Frontman Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill are joined in the Simple Minds’ touring cast by stalwart drummer Mel Gaynor, keyboardist Andy Gillespie, bass player Ged Grimes, backing vocalists Sarah Brown and Catherine AD (additional keys and guitar).
Big Music is described as ‘a swaggering collection that reiterates the band’s world-class credentials; a culmination of a decade of stealthy rediscovery that has seen the band make two albums, 2005’s Black & White 050505 and 2009’s Graffiti Soul, before reminding us all of their legacy with the acclaimed X5 boxed set and subsequent 5X5 Live album and tour’.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday, from www.gigsandtours.co.uk, www.ticketmaster.co.uk or by calling 0844 811 0051 or 0844 826 2826.
