THERE will be plenty of misty eyes in Blackpool when X Factor star Aiden Grimshaw returns home to meet and greet fans.
His excited followers will be over the moon to hear the singer has confirmed he will stop off in the resort to promote his new album, Misty Eye.
The former St Mary’s College sixth form student will carry out an in-store signing at HMV on Bank Hey Street at 5pm on Tuesday, August 21.
Store manager Neil Carpenter told The Gazette: “We are really pleased.
“We’ve been trying to push for this for a while, and it’s great.
“I think a lot of people thought he’d go down the pop route but he’s found his own sound.
“People are getting really excited about him coming to Blackpool.
“He’s got a lot of loyal fans from the X Factor and a lot of local interest too.
“He’s got something about him and he’s come out with some really good music.
“He’s got a unique voice.”
The 20-year-old, who lived in Cleveleys before relocating to London to work on his music, will launch his new album on August 20, the day before he heads home.
The former pupil at Michael Hall Theatre School in Marton has worked with producer Jarrad Rogers – who has collaborated with chart toppers Lana del Rey and Tinchy Stryder – on the album.
He told The Gazette fans will recognise some “heartfelt moody tracks” on the album as well as some “euphoric beats”.
Meanwhile, another Blackpool singer-songwriter Karima Francis is also on the cusp of releasing an album.
The 24-year-old, who earlier this summer was chose to open for Paul Simon in Hyde Park, releases her second album The Remedy on August 13.
To celebrate the two local acts’ album launches HMV Blackpool are giving away three copies of each record in The Gazette.
