One of the founding members of hit rock band Catfish And The Bottlemen brings his solo show to Blackpool tonight.

Billy Bibby played lead guitar in the band’s original line-up, which formed in Llandudno in 2007, but left last summer.

The Accrington-born musician is on the bill at Bootleg Social, in Topping Street, with a DJ set from Clint Boon, ex-Inspiral Carpets’ keyboardist, and Jake McRae.

A spokesman said: “Made in Lancashire and raised in the Welsh seaside resort of Llandudno, Billy Bibby’s voice has all the traditions of a Lancashire hotpot churned together with the excitement of a trip to the beach.

“Former Catfish And The Bottlemen guitarist Billy cut his gigging teeth for seven years up and down the UK, Europe and over in the States as the band’s lead guitarist and backing vocalist.

“One of his greatest achievements is the gold disk he earned for his part in the band’s first album The Balcony, something Billy is very proud to have been part of.”

Making his way now with a solo project, Billy takes influence from the likes of Elvis Presley, Noel Gallagher and Mark Knopfler, among others.

Tonight’s acoustic show, will see him trialling new material to gather audience reaction to the tracks, and there’s a longer term aim to ‘get more musicians on board to put some meat onto the bones of his music’.

“Billy is really excited about his new songs and cannot wait to get stuck into the British music scene again and show the people what he can do on his own,” the spokesman added. “2015 will go on record as the year Billy Bibby, former lead guitar of Catfish and the Bottlemen, began crafting his own solo material.

“It is often said that things happen for a reason. Here the reason is pure and simple: incredible talent that begs to be heard.”

Steve Skelly, from Bootleg added: “It’s quite a cool booking for us, and we have some more nights coming up which are yet to be confirmed - but will be soon.”
