THE phrase the next big thing is bandied about far too often, so I’m not going to use it to describe Lune Deep, a five-piece from Fleetwood.
But what I can say is the lads, all aged 19 or less, have packed a lot in during their short but so far very sweet musical careers and are definitely heading in the right direction.
The band are made up of Ryan Matthews (lead vocals) 19, Lewis Poole (lead guitar) 18, Jack Newsham (rhythm guitar) 18, Bradley Mills (bass guitar) 17 and Liam Smith (drummer) 18.
They have worked hard for the last two or three years, playing in local pubs, and have landed some big gigs - supporting Roy Chubby Brown at the Grand Theatre and playing in front of several hundred people at the Queen’s Jubilee at the Marine Hall. In the past the band have specialised in playing covers but are beginning to concentrate on writing their own material, ahead of plans to record an album later in the year.
You can check out Lune Deep yourself at The Venue in Cleveleys tonight.
They are on stage at 9.30pm till around midnight and are playing a variety of covers with a few original songs thrown in.
