Andy Prior makes a return to the Grand Theatre on Sunday with a tribute to the music of swing legends Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller.
Prior, a Lancashire lad with a unique singing voice and a mean trombone player to boot, has a long association with Blackpool, becoming the Tower Ballroom’s first resident band-leader for 25 years in the 80s.
He won Opportunity Knocks and appeared on national TV shows like Pebble Mill and The Generation Game, and has played sell-out concerts at theatres across the UK and beyond.
In 2004 he was given his own series by Granada and was joined by guests including Peter Kay and Corrie star Bill Tarmey.
He arrives at the Grand ahead of a full UK tour.
“It is fantastic to have the King of Swing back in Blackpool and The Grand is one of his favourite venues,” said promoter Tony Jo, who has organised the show. “Andy has a great history in the town and great local support, and we are looking forward to a terrific evening.”
Sunday’s performance starts at 7.30pm. Tickets available from www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk or the box office on (01253) 290190.
