Tony Christie is the latest star signing for Blackpool North Pier’s summer season.

The Is This The Way To Amarillo singer will play Wednesday nights at North Pier Theatre from August through to October.

The summer shows at the theatre are being hosted by Tony Jo and HRH Entertainments, with the season getting under way with comic legends Cannon and Ball on Saturday, August 1, Joe Longthorne on Sunday, August 2 and a special one-off show from Jason Manford on Monday, August 3. Jason is also bringing his branded Manford’s Comedy Club for a series of weekly nights from Wednesday, June 24, to the pier’s Merrie England Bar.

These shows have been booked in response to customer feedback, wanting more mid-week entertainment, and will feature ‘the very best’ of circuit comedians selected by Manford for club nights across the country.

HRH Entertainment hopes the new schedule will appeal to people looking for traditional theatre entertainment – on the back of the success of Britain’s Got Talent and the revival of Sunday Night At The
London Palladium.

The Tony Christie and His Orchestra ‘must-see’ shows mark the star’s headline
debuts in Blackpool, and fans can look forward to hits including Avenues And Alleyways and I Did What I Did For Maria.

Cannon and Ball are making a summer return to perform every Saturday night during the peak season, with fellow resort favourite Joe Longthorne on Sundays.

Resort-based manager and producer Tony Jo said: “We have something for everyone.

“Blackpool really is the entertainment capital of the UK. Where else could you see Cannon and Ball, Joe Longthorne, Jason Manford, That’s Entertainment and Tony Christie in the same venue on a different night in the space of a week?

“We want 2015 to be a fantastic season, the booking of the legends Cannon and Ball on a Saturday night reiterates the statement made by Peter Kay on the final episode of his recent hit TV show Car Share, when his character said: ‘I’ve seen Cannon and Ball three times at North Pier theatre and they are the funniest act in the business’.

“We are delighted to announce the legends’ return this summer every Saturday for 12 weeks – and there are two tickets waiting for Peter Kay on the front row on the opening night.”

Profits from the Jason Manford night, and other shows throughout the season, will be donated to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, in recognition of the care Tony Jo received there while being treated for cancer.
