IS This Love? Blackpool singing sensation Aiden Grimshaw hopes it will be when he releases his debut single next month.

The former St Mary’s sixth former has taken time out since his stint on hit TV talent show X Factor almost two years ago.

But the 20-year-old will be back in the spotlight with his first single, Is This Love and an album release, Misty Eye, expected in August.

Aiden, who lived in Cleveleys up until 14 months ago when he relocated to London, told The Gazette he is nervous for fans to like his first single.

He said: “It has been very important for me to take time out since the X Factor and work with different producers to find my feet.

“I didn’t know what I was doing or what sound I was going for, it has taken a year and a bit, well almost two years for me to start working it all out.

“I started writing the album in November last year, I wanted to write honest music, just me in a studio making those experiences and coming up with ideas.

“But I am a bit nervous about the reception, so far it is has gone well, but this is my own stuff, people will be judging and I have had so long away.”

The singer who attended Michael Hall Theatre School in Marton has worked with producer Jarrad Rogers – who has worked with Lana del Rey and Tinchy Stryder – on the album.

He says X Factor fans will recognise his ‘moody’ sound but there are more upbeat tunes as well.

He said: “Most of the X Factor stuff was moody and there are some pretty heartfelt moody tracks, a bit Mad World-esque, but there are also some big, euphoric, angry beats as well.”

Aiden, who was voted off the ITV talent show in its sixth week, says this is the longest time he has spent away from Blackpool.

He added: “It always seems really busy in London, even when people have nothing to do they walk quickly.

“I have been back home a few times for birthdays and members of my family keep having babies, it’s like One Born Every Minute.

“It’s exciting being in London but I miss Blackpool and enjoy nipping back to see everyone and have tea with my grandma.”

Is This Love will be released on Monday June 3.
