BLACKPOOL is teaming up with Real and Smooth Radio for the third year running to deliver this year’s Illuminations switch-on party.

The ceremony, which will relocate to the new Tower Festival Headland, will be broadcast across the UK.

GMG Radio Group managing director Andy Carter said; “Being part of one of the UK’s biggest and longest running events is a great honour and we’re once again looking forward to bringing fantastic entertainment to Blackpool for the switch-on ceremony.

“As with last two years, we’ll again be broadcasting from the event live around the UK.”

Managing director of Marketing Blackpool Natalie Wyatt said: “2012 is a landmark year for the Illuminations as it marks the centenary of the lights in their current form and also will be the first year the switch-on event is held on the Tower Festival Headland.

“Because of this, we are looking forward to working with Real and Smooth to stage a spectacular event on Blackpool’s brightest night.”

The partnership with Real and Smooth secured Robbie Williams (left) in 2010 and comedian Keith Lemon in 2011 to flick the famous switch.
