The Ship at Elswick, is abiding by its tradition of not creating special menus for Mother’s Day, at inflated prices.
The eatery is once again sending out a message that mums should be allowed to choose their year-round favourites, at normal prices, whether they fancy 28 day hung rib eye steak, or good old fish and chips.
The Ship will be offering the whole of its extensive a la carte menu on Mother’s Day, along with its exciting Chef’s Specials for March. These include a chicken liver port and pistachio nut terrine and spicy coated squid rings for starters and fillet of beef medallion and goat’s cheese stuffed chicken supreme for mains.
Mums can choose some dishes that celebrate local and Lancashire at a dining pub that has Taste Lancashire’s Highest Quality Assured accreditation. This might be Goosnargh chicken, or Bury black pudding, or they might want to tuck in to some Lancashire Hot Pot, with a Ship at Elswick twist.
Alternatively, they might wish to go continental and taste a dish inspired by the Canary Islands – a crisp, garlic and chilli-seasoned chicken served with salt-crusted new potatoes and homemade aioli.
The world of food is mum’s oyster thanks to the Ship’s policy of not creating an expensive one-off menu for the day. As manager, John Bentley, says: “Why should anyone pay extra to take their mum out on Mother’s Day?
“As well as making her feel guilty about the cost, it deprives her of the chance to eat her favourite dishes and year-round fancies. Mother’s Day should be a Mums’-menu-free celebration!”
The Ship’s popular policy always makes waves on Mother’s Day, so booking a table is essential. Call 01995 672777 to make a reservation and visit www.theshipatelswick.co.uk for more information.
