Kate reveals a harder edge

MULTI-instrumentalist and multi-talented Kate Nash is heading to Preston, complete with her new punk sound.

Nash rose to fame in her teens, after her mother bought her a guitar to write on while nursing a broken foot. First record Caroline’s a Victim sold out its limited vinyl pressing and made her a Myspace star before she even had a record deal.

Next came huge hit ‘Foundations’, then two albums (2007’s number 1 Made of Bricks and 2010’s My Best Friend Is You) which led to mainstream success.

New album Girl Talk is a change of tack, very punky – as anyone who has heard the rather splendid Under-Estimate The Girl will know.

Should be an interesting night when she comes to 53 Degrees on April 9. Tickets from www.lancashiretickets.com

REAL ale drinkers with a taste for all things Scottish should hotfoot it to the Thatched in Poulton this week.

The pub’s Taste Of Scotland week kicks off today, with plenty of beers to try courtesy of the Cairngorm Brewery of Aviemore.

There’s also a Burns Bash on Thursday with complimentary haggis and bagpiper.

Sounds well worth a visit.
